SmartPLUG from Medennium is available from Spectrum UK. SmartPLUG fits a range of punctum sizes which offers the patient effective long term occlusion of the punctum. Patient comfort is guaranteed due to the unique SmartPLUG design which incorporates thermal expansion technology thereby eliminating the need for a protruding cap which can cause irritation for the patient. Rigid silicone plugs are designed with an exposed head.  SmartPLUG is designed to eliminate any potential for irritation.  If required SmartPLUG can be removed by irrigation.

Because SmartPLUG shrinks in length and expands in width reshaping itself into a soft gel-like plug, it can be used for a range of punctum sizes, simplifying stock management.

SmartPLUG is a thin, rigid 6 mm acrylic rod in length and .4mm in diameter. SmartPLUG can be inserted into an undilated punctum. SmartPLUG can be simply inserted using topical anaesthesia when required.
