Press Release 16 July 2015 - Oertli Instrumente AG obtained CE certificate for its new OS4® surgical platform for vitreoretinal, cataract and glaucoma surgery

"An evolution on the outside - a revelation on the inside", said a Swiss ophthalmologist when admiring the combined machine for anterior and posterior segment surgery for the first time.  Particularly impressive is the unique HDC control (High Definition Dynamic Direct Control) responsible for perfectly uniting the system with the micro motoric movements of the surgeon.  Thanks to HDC control, the OS4® with its instruments acts as an extension of the surgeon's hand by carrying out commands and intentions with the same degree of perfection as the surgeon's own hand resulting in highest resolution, dynamic, direct and instant performance.

User-friendliness is another essential aspect of HDC control: its no-frills 15-inch glass monitor, short start-up time, self-refracting sterile cassette, and pleasant user-height etc. All make operating clear and simple for the OR team.

The cutting-edge three-pump system which works with vacuum and flow also incorporates the cleverly thought-out HDC philosophy.  The new SPEEP® mode, and thus third pump system, makes operating even safer for the surgeon thanks to controlled flow and controlled vacuum.

The proven easyPhaco® technology also provides a clear edge in cataract surgery in the OS4® device.  Active infusion and gravity infusion can be selected as required in each of the three machine versions.  The wireless dual linear pedal stores sufficient power for several days of surgery.  Its HDC ensures precise, direct and multifunctional transmission of all commands.

The dual pneumatic Continuous Flow-Cutter enables 10'000 cuts per minute and guarantees continuous flow as well as optimal portioning of the vitreous body removal for tear-free work.  Due to the independant dual light source and the colour-adjustable LED technology, contrast viewing in the posterior segment is a real joy.

In the full version, the Oertli development team has built in a green endo laser with 532nm.  The steerable laser probes access far into the periphery by finest movements of your fingertips.
